27 May

Those of you that know the yard know that I like to keep a couple of point to point horses to run during the winter. I love a day between the flags, and its a great opportunity for our amateurs to get racing experience away from the spotlight under Rules.
BALLINA LADY has been improving with every run this year – she’s a huge mare, and doesn’t help herself get home by being very keen in her races, but she has really strengthened up this season and I was hopeful that her debut win might be on the cards. I wasn’t quite expecting it to come as it did at Chaddesley Corbett today though ! She bowled along in front as she likes to do, and the lead just kept getting larger – and by the time she crossed the line, the second horse was just coming to the last. The official winning margin was 54 lengths. Delighted for Lilly to have ridden her to victory, but I know she won’t mind sharing the credit with Callum McBride who has ridden her so well for much of the season and only missed out on the win because he’s recovering after an op.
