Musselburgh is always a long way to go, but so long as we come back with a winner, I’m happy to travel !
POPERINGHE GINGER was odds-on to start things off on a good note for us in the Mares Maiden hurdle, but it wasn’t to be – she didn’t do a lot wrong, but was just beaten by a mare returning to form after injury. There will be other days for her – she has been second on each of her last 2 starts, and fingers crossed we can find the right opportunity for her to go one better next time out.
TELSON BARLEY then did give us the winner in the last, thank goodness, to make the trip home that much quicker. He probably ranks as a slightly lucky winner – the long time leader fell at the last when still a length or so up – but they had pulled well clear of the field, and he was on hand to claim his maiden victory. He’s still very green, as he showed when left in front, and as he learns more, so he’ll continue to improve.
