Delighted with both runners at Worcester today, particularly after a disappointing day there last week.

STYNES had been schooling well at home, and the only worry was weather the long overdue rain might have softened the ground a little too much for him on his debut over fences. Charlie Deutsch gave him a lovely ride from the front though, and he had more than enough to hold off the challengers in the home straight. That’s the perfect start to his chasing career, and hopefully he can build on that as the summer goes on.

Cracking run from TOUCH OF VELVETT on her Rules debut too, in the mares bumper. Danny Hiskett gave her a super spin, keeping her up with the pace and then riding her out hands and heels to finish in a very respectable 5th place. There were nice mares in front of her, and nice mares behind her, and there’s every reason to think she’s going to be decent. She is a lovely big mare, and will improve again for a good summer break to strengthen up.
